Currently, congestion is causing delays for cargo in and around the Port of Montreal. Several factors are contributing to the delays, including weather conditions, on-dock dwell times, and driver shortages. As a result, some ocean carriers are implementing a congestion fee.
Effective February 8th, Maersk introduced a congestion fee destination (CFD) for all cargo discharging at Montreal for “non-regulated countries” and March 6th for regulated countries.
Deringer will continue to monitor the congestion in and around Montreal. If you have questions regarding a specific shipment, please contact us.
