Post Irma: Some US Southeast Ports Return to Operation

Following Hurricane Irma’s departure—now a tropical depression, port infrastructure is being assessed in the US Southeast. A return to operations has been announced for some parts of Florida and South Carolina, and ports in Georgia are expected to re-open later today or tomorrow.

As of noon today, the following operational updates have been provided for ports in the US Southeast.

Florida

• Miami: Truck and gate operations opened at some terminals, but marine traffic is still closed.
• Port Everglades: Ships are expected to re-enter the port this morning. Five terminals are operational, and an additional five are expected to come online later today.
• Jacksonville: Offices and terminals are closed today as the US Coast Guard assesses infrastructure. Staff will begin returning to work on Wednesday, September 13th.
• Airports: Have re-opened, but delays are expected.

South Carolina

• Gates and container yards opened this morning; terminals and offices are observing normal operating hours.

Georgia

• Ports in Georgia are expected to re-open later today or tomorrow.
